Sandra J. Mann
SJM Artwork
2008-2010 Board Member of the Kingstowne Area Artist Association
I started painting wooden birdhouses and trinket boxes on my half of the dining room table while my husband built model boats and trains as "therapy" during chemotherapy. After he passed away in 2001 I decided to take some classes to see if I could graduate from craft painting to something more serious.
My progress through those years has become my own therapeutic passion...especially painting animals.
My first try with painting on glass was painting Betty Boop on a wine glass as a gift for a co-worker. It was fun and received well and I thought why not paint my friends' dogs on glasses for them--and the joyful business got its start.
My clients include a D.C. Judge, several corporate executives, attorneys, friends, co-workers, a Canadian Horse Show Event, and even a descendant of Robert E. Lee!
